Nevada Tourism

Hotel-casino companies have invested nearly $60 billion in Nevada. Not unlike other industries throughout the nation, these assets struggled to perform during 2010. That said, even during the period that followed the worst economic downturn in modern U.S. history, Nevada attracted nearly 50 million visitors and its largest hotel-casinos reported $21 billion in gross revenues.

Nevada reported 2,827 active gaming licensees during 2010. Only 434 of licensees were non-restricted gaming operators. The balance included 2,032 restricted operators, 297 manufacturers and distributors, 58 slot route operators and 6 other licensees. Nevada’s hotel-casinos have evolved significantly during the past two decades. Where gaming represented 61 percent of non-restricted licensee revenues in 1990, that figured dropped to 53 percent in 2000 and 48 percent in 2010. Nevada’s hotel-casinos have evolved to become multi-faceted entertainment destinations with restaurants, shopping, meetings and special events all becoming increasingly important elements of the visitor experience.
