2006 was another banner year for Nevada tourism. With more than 51 million visitors and more than $12 billion in gross gaming revenue earned, Nevada once again set a new record.

With 2,947 gaming licensed gaming operations, the state's tourism industry continues to diversify and grow in other areas. Today, gaming makes up less than half the total revenues generated by the tourism industry, whereas 20 years ago, it made over 60 percent.
