Current Regulation Data

All establishments where gaming is conducted and gaming devices are operated, as well as all manufacturers, sellers and distributors of gaming devices, are required by Nevada state law to obtain a gaming license. As of fiscal year 2009, there were 2,882 active licenses issued in the state.

Notes: [1] "Restricted license" or "restricted operation" means a state gaming license for, or an operation consisting of, not more than 15 slot machines and no other game or gaming device at an establishment in which the operation of slot machines is incidental to the primary business of the establishment. NRS 463.0189. [2] "Nonrestricted license" or "nonrestricted operation" means: 1. A state gaming license for, or an operation consisting of, 16 or more slot machines; 2. A license for, or operation of, any number of slot machines together with any other game, gaming device, race book or sports pool at one establishment; A license for, or the operation of, a slot machine route; or A license for, or the operation of, an intercasino linked system. NRS 463.0177. [3] "Group I licensee" means either: 1. A nonrestricted licensee having gross revenue of $3,305,000 or more for the 12 months ended June 30th each year; or 2. A nonrestricted licensee, whose operation consists primarily of a race book or sports pool or both, that accepts $55,077,000 or more in wagers during the 12 months ended June 30th each year. [4] "Group II licensee" means either: 1. A nonrestricted licensee having gross revenue of less than $3,305,000 for the 12 months ended June 30th each year; or 2. A nonrestricted licensee, whose operation consists primarily of a race book or sports pool or both, that accepts less than $55,077,000 in wagers during the 12 months ended June 30th each year. [5] "Operator of a slot machine route" means a person who, under any agreement whereby consideration is paid or payable for the right to place slot machines, engages in the business of placing and operating slot machines upon the business premises of others at three or more locations. NRS 463.018. [6] "Manufacturer" means a person who: 1. Manufactures, assembles, programs or makes modifications to a gaming device, cashless wagering system or interactive gaming system; or 2. Designs, assumes responsibility for the design of, controls the design or assembly of, or maintains a copyright over the design of, a mechanism, electronic circuit or computer program which cannot be reasonably demonstrated to have any application other than in a gaming device, cashless wagering system or interactive gaming system for use or play in this state or for distribution outside of this state.
